2013 Davey Brothers Shiraz

Shiraz

NEW VINTAGE RELEASE

"Small batch open-fermented, 14 months maturation in American and French oak. There is an indecent amount of wine for the price, starting with the excellent colour, then through the bouquet and expressive medium-bodied palate, with a latticework of black fruits, bitter chocolate and fine tannins. 92 pts. Drink by 2025."

Reprinted with permission from the 2016 James Halliday Wine Companion

"Deep garnet/purple, the 2013 Davey Brothers Shiraz opens with a slightly
rubbery note before revealing blackberries, blackcurrants and plums with hints of
licorice, dark chocolate and tar. Full-bodied, concentrated and framed by
firm and grainy tannins, the palate is fresh and shows nice vibrancy through the long finish. 90 pts."

Lisa Perotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate, USA, #220, August 2015

Tasting Note:

Brilliant deep red. Lush, velvety aromas of blackcurrant, satsuma plum and chocolate fill the glass. The full-bodied palate is a compote of black fruits garnished with dark roasted coffee beans. Chewy structural tannins and subtle toasty American and French oak add moreish savoury notes. A classic McLaren Vale Shiraz that expresses perfectly the terroir of the Davey Estate Vineyard.
