"Deep garnet with a touch of purple, the 2012 Kitchen Garden Mataro has a pronounced nose of warm black cherries and crushed blueberries with hints of eucalyptus and fertile loam. Medium bodied with mouth-watering, juicy fruit and freshness, it is off-set by low to medium level chewy tannins and finishes with good length. Drink now to 2018. 89 pts."

Tasting Note:

At the back of the early homestead, home to Shingleback’s Cellar Door, is the Kitchen Garden Mataro (Mourvédre) block. The red clay and ironstone soils of this small vineyard and the outstanding 2012 vintage conditions have created this vibrant magenta, subtly perfumed Mataro. Aromas of raspberry, blueberry, wet summer earth and a hint of licorice lead into the juicy flavours and savoury minerality of the palate. The purity of fruit and finesse of the structure will enchant, and sit easily alongside a wine variety of foods.
