2011 The Gate Shiraz
Shiraz
"How this depth of colour was achieved in '11, I don't know, even less the full-bodied palate, but that is less important than the splendidly rich palate festooned with high quality oak and good tannins. 94 pts."

"Deep purple-black in colour, the 2011 The Gate Shiraz reveals notes of macerated blackberries and black cherry preserves with overtones of violets, toasty oak and menthol plus a whiff of black pepper. Full-bodied and packed with expressive blackberry, vanilla and spice flavors, it displays a solid backbone of medium - firm, rounded tannins and lively acid before finishing long. Drink to 2019+. 91 pts"
Lisa Perotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate, February 2013
Tasting Note:
Satsuma plum hues highlight the deep red colour. Aromas of mulberry, blueberry, star anise and a hint of mocha oak fill the glass. A compote of dark forest fruits overflow from the full-bodied, structurally linear palate. The fine balance of power and finesse ensure both alluring drinkability and longevity.
