2013 Vin Vale Shiraz

Shiraz

"'Seamlessly integrated fine-grained American and French oak.' Shingleback must have been embarrassed by the sheer volume of top class shiraz it ended up with this vintage. It doesn't have the structure and texture of its five more expensive
siblings, but the fruit flavours on the light to medium-bodied palate are most attractive. A very good everyday wine. 88 pts."

"A beautiful value-for-money young red that delivers above its fighting weight. It's lush and seamless with an excellent mix of ripe, savoury tannins and a decent dab of oak. The fruit delivers on a long pleasing palate. Really impressive wine at the price point."

Ray Jordan, The West Australian, July 9th 2015

"Those looking for bargains can sign up right here. while not the most complex wine, it's rich and ripe, full and flush, balanced and interesting at the price point. Dark fruits, nougat-like gentle sweetness, creamy texture, decent length. Peppery spice and graphite-like oak character lend some extra depth. 90 pts."

Mike Bennie, Wine Business Magazine, April 2015

"Bright powerful black cherry fruit and oak characters dominate the nose. Excellent flavour depth on the palate with the tannins building nicely. 4 stars."

Winestate magazine, New Release Tasting, March / April 2015

"Good deep crimson in colour. Pleasing aromas of blackberries on the bouquet. The mid-weighted palate shows ripened dark berry summer fruits over soft tannins. There is a subtle background of American and French oak treatment. Fine drinking on its own or with lighter main courses."

Martin Field, eVine, February 18th 2015 Noosa 101.3 FM

Tasting Note

Deep garnet. Dark cherry and mulberry primary aromas are the foundation for lifted floral notes, spice and cashew-oak. Strawberry and raspberry flavours overflow the mid-palate, focused into the long, lingering finish by a fresh natural acidity and fine tannins. This medium-full bodied, classic McLaren Vale Shiraz, fruit forward and delicious now, for those with the willpower, will reward 2 – 3 years in the cellar.
