Brilliant deep magenta. Primary aromas of dark cherry and mulberry, with nuances of savoury spice, summer earth and jaffa milk chocolate. The fresh blackberry mid-palate is restrained by structured tannins and lingers with a balanced acidity. This single block, full-bodied, estate Shiraz from the exceptional 2012 vintage is, on release on May 1st 2014, still but a talented teenager, anticipated to realise its full potential in 5 – 15 years.

The rich cassis flavours are focused by fine, satiny tannins and linger on the finish, with just a hint of bay leaf. Bright pale straw with green tints. Aromas of stone fruit and nashi pear are accentuated with notes of candied lemon and roasted cashew. The medium to full bodied palate presents a fruit salad of pink grapefruit, crunchy apple, white peach and fresh pineapple. The mineral acidity and fine-grained French oak elements add texture and enhance the pristine, lingering fruit finish. Whilst delicious in its youth, with careful cellaring, this wine will continue to develop and grow in stature over the next 5 years.

Creamy bubbles and luscious sweetness envelop the plump blackberry mid-palate, which is enhanced with hints of savoury development. The long sweet fruit finish is balanced with fine tannin and acidity.

Satsuma plum coloured. The Shiraz, grown on loamy clay, contributes raspberry, blackberry and spice to the blend, whilst the hand-picked, old bush vine Grenache (grown on deep sand over clay) adds a potpourri of perfumed roses and savoury notes. Small batch open fermentation and maturation in older oak ensures the proven synergy of these two, equally matched, McLaren Vale Local Heroes.

In the outstanding 2012 vintage a couple of special rows of Davey Estate Shiraz were left to concentrate until late in the season. At the optimum designated moment of fermentation, grape spirit was added to lock in the sweetness and preserve the wine.

This fortified Shiraz will reward careful cellaring. The sweet dark compote of fruit flavours is enhanced with the spirit warmth, matching beautifully with coffee and chocolate or a selection of cheeses.

A small section of Semillon on the Davey Estate was netted to protect the grapes as they ripened and concentrated late into the season. The botrytis affected and shrivelling bunches were hand harvested and whole bunch pressed to release their concentrated nectar for fermentation. When the desired alcohol level was reached the ferment was chilled and filtered to retain a luscious natural sweetness.
The enticing marmalade and lime conserve flavours make this “sticky” perfect to drink chilled with dessert or a cheese platter.

Pale straw in colour. Enticing aromas of white peach, apple and lime zest with subtle shades of roasted cashew oak and a talcy minerality tempt. The fresh flavours of nashi pear and apple are balanced by a hint of creaminess, flowing through the mid-palate and lingering on the finely textured finish. A medium bodied Chardonnay crafted to have wide appeal and be enjoyed on any occasion.

Bright summer berries shine on the lively, medium weight palate.The luscious Grenache is complemented and structurally enhanced by the darker berry flavours and ripe tannins of the Shiraz and Mourvèdre, offering immediate appeal. Glorious in its youth, with age the wine will develop an attractive, savoury complexity.
